I’m a Freshman who is interested in the proffesion of game design. I’m currently taking a Python class, and it’s been interesting. As a person who is new to coding, it can be frustrating. The smallest of errors can derail an entire application from running, and you have to be very specific when adding new commands. This teaches you to think like a computer. When looking through an application that isn’t running correctly, you catch many details that you missed while you were writing the code. It’s very rewarding to finally run your code and see that everything works properly. I decided to take this class because computer programming is the way of the future. People like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs got started in computer programming when they were young. And look at how their creations have benefited and influenced society. Ten years from now, computer programming will become a manditory class. We will be wondering why we didn’t teach this sooner. One of the main reasons I want to go into game design is because I play video games. They consume many hours of my free time, and I find them satisfying and highly addictive. I started a coding course on C++, but I haven’t really started it at all. (I tried doing the course on a Macbook but that didn’t really work out.) Ever since I started playing video games I’ve dreamt of creating my own video game. I’ve come up with all the ideas of creating an open world video game, but that dream hasn’t turned into a reality yet. My goal is to create an open world multiplayer video game that can allow users to choose their own path and determine their destiny. This isn’t just any other open world video game. It has an influential easter egg that is hidden within the many worlds of the game. Finding this easter egg will not be easy, but will change the course of the game forever. As you can tell, I’m very passionate about this subject and idea. I hope that this project will get off the ground eventually. There is a lot of work to be done.
